The Geosite
The Geosite of the Civagno creek is an important naturalistic and cultural heritage for the whole area of Lake Como. Climbing the path of Civagno creek, from the valley upstream, allows to know the history of these places including the more important aspects concerning geology, paleontology and geomorphology.
During its history the Civagno torrent has eroded the surrounding sedimentary rocks formed in the Upper Triassic (about 220 million years ago) which now surface showing their layers and content of fossils.

This long natural process has given the entire area an important scientific value and the consequent interest in its conservation.
The establishment of the Geosite it's very important because allows to preserve and enhance this portion of the territory over time becoming a landmark for locals and tourism.
